This book is flavorful engaging.
Rachel is an educator of financial matters in NY who has been dating her beau Nick for a long time. One day Nick welcomes her to go with him to Singapore to go to his cousin’s wedding and she concurs.
When Rachel and Nick land in Singapore and meet his family, she understands that Nick’s family is ridiculously wealthy. Wealthy as well as $200,000-a-dress rich and this is a reality that he’s neglected to uncover to her.
Rachel before long winds up managing meddling relatives, extravagant dinners, plotting social climbers, personal jets, and show, huge amounts of dramatization. The epic is described from various perspectives and is set for the most part in Asia. My preferred character is Oliver since he is clever and an indecent rascal.
The epic is amusing, fascinating and addictive. In general, I delighted in it and plan to peruse the spin-offs.
Last NOTE: a motion picture adjustment is in progress and envelops an all-Asian cast. I am eager to see the motion picture and was glad to discover that Michelle Yeoh will play one of the fundamental characters Eleanor Sung-Young. I previously observed her on the stunning film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and have been a fan from that point forward.

Gracious. My. God.
I sense that it’s been some time since I read such a glorious book.
It’s a tornado of show and feelings. I was giggling, swooning, getting disappointed, loathing many individuals, and crying. Goody gumdrops would i say i was crying for sure? I was a passionate wreck. Simply be set up for that plot curve towards the end.
There are such huge numbers of characters in this book I monitored everybody. The beneficial thing there was a family tree so I could allude back to it like clockwork. There are characters who I cherish and afterward, there are others that I loathe cause they are unadulterated wickedness. For example, Eleanor. Truly, Nick’s mother. I don’t care for her one piece. I simply don’t see how she can be so merciless. Wouldn’t she be able to surrender her old perspectives for her own child’s joy? I mean I do comprehend cause I experienced childhood in a preservationist Indian family as well however doesn’t mean I like her.
The entire Singapore scene with these rich families appears to be so poisonous. Uncommonly with the women attempting to one-up one another. Be that as it may, it occurs. It’s the manner in which they have grown up and it difficult to desert your foundations. Everybody has their very own plan and everybody is attempting to undermine somebody. Our fundamental injured individual being Rachel.
Rachel is a savvy, reasonable lady and Nick is simply so kind, rational, and totally stricken over Rachel. I need my very own Nick. I genuinely adore them both and their relationship. Each time Elenore or that dumb Francesca young lady attempted to divide them I was insulted. Leave them alone. They are cheerful and in adoration. Be that as it may, I need to state it makes for an incredible show grouping, which I adore. I adored how Rachel remained consistent with her ethics, regardless of what anybody tried to split them up or make Rachel look terrible. Also, credit to Nick for standing other than her when she required him the most. I simply revere them.
And after that there was Astrid. I felt so awful for her. She is so great and merits only the best. Any other individual ship Astrid and Charlie? Cause ya young lady is on that board. He appears to be so sweet and truly thinks about her. It needs to occur. Michael who?
I am so happy I at last lifted this book up in light of the fact that it is extraordinary. The Asian portrayal, the way of life, the characters, simply everything. It’s compelling. From the first page to last, it’s stuffed with dramatization, fun, and madness. I cherish, love, love.
Inside this book
“You sure about this?” Rachel asked again, blowing softly on the surface of her steaming cup of tea. They were sitting at their usual window table at Tea & Sympathy, and Nick had just invited her to spend the summer with him in Asia. “Rachel, I’d love it if you came,” Nick reassured her. “You weren’t planning on teaching this summer, so what’s your worry? Think you won’t be able to handle the heat and humidity?” “No, that’s not it. I know you’re going to be so busy with all your best-man duties, and I wouldn’t want to distract you,” Rachel said. “What distraction? Colin’s wedding is only going to take up the first week in Singapore, and then we can spend the rest of the summer just bumming around Asia. Come on, let me show you where I grew up. I want to take you to all my favorite haunts.” “Will you show me the sacred cave where you lost your virginity?” Rachel teased, arching an eyebrow playfully.
“Definitely! We can even stage a reenactment!” Nick laughed, slathering jam and clotted cream onto a scone still warm from the oven. “And doesn’t a good friend of yours live in Singapore?” “Yes, Peik Lin, my best friend from college,” Rachel said. “She’s been trying to get me to come visit for years.” “All the more reason. Rachel, you’re going to love it, and I just know you’re going to flip out over the food! You do realize Singapore is the most food-obsessed country on the planet?” “Well, just watching the way you fawn over everything you eat, I figured it’s pretty much the national sport.” “Remember Calvin Trillin’s New Yorker piece on Singapore street
foods? I’ll take you to all the local dives even he doesn’t know about.” Nick took another bite of his fluffy scone and continued with his mouth full. “I know how much you love these scones. Just wait till you taste my Ah Ma’s—”
