    About the Author:

    Michael Pollan is the writer of five books: Second Nature, A Place of My Own, The Botany of Desire, which got the Borders Original Voices Award for the best verifiable work of 2001 and was perceived as a best book of the year by the American Booksellers Association and Amazon, and the national bestsellers, The Omnivore’s Dilemma, and In Defense of Food. A long-term contributing author to The New York Times Magazine, Pollan is likewise the Knight Professor of Journalism at UC Berkeley. His writing on food and agribusiness has won various honors, including the Reuters/World Conservation Union Global Award in Environmental Journalism, the James Beard Award, and the Genesis Award from the American Humane Association.

    This book was extraordinary to me! I saw Pollan’s writing style as keen, clear, and relatable. Furthermore, I can’t disclose to you how often “Eat food. Not all that much. Generally plants.” have gone through my mind in the years since first reading it. I acknowledge how he challenges such an extensive amount what we catch wind of diet – each time scientists think they have the way to nourishment or weight reduction, something new is found to flip it completely around.
    The book helped me investigate my interest in increasingly customary weight control plans made up of unadulterated/entire foods, desert food-like (and gimmicky) items in the stores, and change to cooking and baking without any preparation. In the wake of reading it, I was inspired to purchase a grain plant for my kitchen so I could grind my flour and heat without any preparation using entire grain flour (and composed a beginning manual for help other people do likewise). Being ready to control what goes into my food has improved my wellbeing and vitality. I can’t prescribe this book enough.
    I additionally like the partner book “Food Rules” Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual, which I’d prescribe on the off chance that you need a short “simply guide me” book.     Like, eating a little meat isn’t going to kill you, though it might be better approached as a side dish than as a main. And you’re better off eating whole fresh foods rather than processed food products. That’s what I mean by the recommendation to “eat food,” which is not quite as simple as it sounds. For while it used to be that food was all you could eat, today there are thousands of other edible foodlike substances in the supermarket. These novel products of food science often come in packages elaborately festooned with health claims, which brings me to another, somewhat counterintuitive, piece of advice: If you’re concerned about your health, you should probably avoid products that make health claims. Why? Because a health claim on a food product is a strong indication it’s not food, and food is what you want to eat.
