Reviews of The Self-Taught Programmer by Cory Althoff

    1. Rating 4.5/5

This book is in no way supposed for skilled programmers however is written and arranged well for those unaccustomed the topic. It offers an honest primer on python and basic programming fundamentals. Despite its title, I don’t the least bit contemplate it a 1 stop buy programming professionally. Still, it is used as a basic reference and may function a good beginning for cryptography newbies.

    2. Rating 4/5

Cory’s book may be a tight introduction to an educated engineer. It covers a variety of vital topics mistreatment Python as well as functions, strings, loops, modules, OOP, bash, regular expressions, version management, and a few easy knowledge structures/algorithms. Would to possess likable to visualize it go a small amount more and also the info is pretty wonky for the code snippets if scan mistreatment Kindle Cloud reader.

    3. Rating 4.3/5

Through the time I have perused various books with a comparative concentration as this one. As a financial student of history, writing computer programs isn’t something I was educated in a study hall, yet it has turned into vital expertise. Hoping to fill this hole of learning, I bought this book and I haven’t thought twice about it. Simple to peruse and doesn’t accept past learning nor that an idea is plainly obvious. Details and language are kept to a base and consistently clarified if necessary. The activities are short, with high illustrative power, yet fundamentally the same as those you find in every single starting book. I surmise this is to be required to a certain degree. There are additionally a couple of extremely irritating errors in the book. I profoundly suggest it!

    Inside this Book

“Most good programmers do programming not because they expect to get paid
or get adulation by the public, but because it is fun to program.”
    — Linus Torvalds
I majored in Political Science at Clemson University. Before I chose this path I
considered Computer Science. I even enrolled in an Introduction to
Programming class my Freshman year but quickly dropped it. It was too
difficult. While living in Silicon Valley after graduation I decided I needed to
learn to program. A year later, I was working as a software engineer II at eBay
(above an entry-level software engineer, but below a senior software engineer). I
don’t want to give the impression that this was easy. It was incredibly
challenging. In between throwing things at the wall, it was a lot of fun too.
I started my journey learning to program in Python, a popular
    programming language.
This book, however, is not about teaching you how to
program in a specific language (although it does). There are plenty of amazing
books, classes, and resources that do that already. The focus is everything else
those standard resources do not teach you. It’s about the things I had to learn on
my own in order to become a software engineer. This book is not meant for
someone looking for a casual introduction to programming so they can write
code as a hobby. This book is written specifically for those looking to program
professionally. Whether your goal is to become a software engineer, an
entrepreneur or to use your new programming skills in another profession, this
    book was written for you.
